From blank canvas to finished masterpiece - my progress in the art studio, this week.
This week, I started a huge new art project. One of my dreams is to paint a mural in a hospital. So, I decided to paint a wall in our home to show the jurors a sample of my mural art. It will be my second mural. Last year, I painted our garage door.
So, here’s a video of the white wall. We live in a 1900s house which will be renovated in the next months. I chose to paint our bedroom wall which already had a mural on it, a vineyard painting. So, I spent the week, cleaning the wall and painting it white (two coats).
I also finished this couple’s portrait! I’m so happy how it turned out. I love that they chose different shades of green for their clothes. At first, I was going to paint the background in blue. Then, I went for a bright yellow for a more vibrant touch. Their little girl said, “It’s you and dad! And it’s so you!!! Even Dad’s hair!! I’m in love.” Sweetest compliment ever. That’s why I do what I do!
I also went thrifting new frames and I found some really big one! I’m so happy! I ordered some gesso, a white acrylic paint to do the background of my oil on wood paintings which will go in the frames. So looking forward to paint big! And I have a new couple portrait commission too, yay!!
I hope you had an amazing week. See you next Sunday! Till then, have fun 🥳
Much Love 💕
